Kinetic Sculpture Installation, 2003 - Aluminium foil, 12v motors, lights, garage
Phantasmagoria was a site-specific kinetic sculture installation shown at Alley Jaunt 2003, which is an art festival that takes place in garages in the alleys surrounding Trinity Bellwoods Park in Toronto.
To see Phantasmagoria, the viewer had to look through one of three small peek-holes into the dark garage. Peeking through the holes, one saw multiple shivering and sspinning silver creatures. A whispery swishing sound also emanated from the garage. Throughout the two-day festival with close to 2000 visitors, only one person was able to identify the material used to creating the fantastical illusion.
